Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services will strive to save the lives and property of the citizens of Bartow County and its visitors by providing a high level of service in the areas of fire suppression, rescue services, early EMS intervention, fire prevention, and hazardous materials response.

Bartow County is located off I-75 about 40 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia. Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services covers everything from extreme rural to low-rise apartments and commercial properties. Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services was formed on December 1, 1971 with the opening of the first county fire station. The county fire department consisted of one full time employee, Chief Harold C. Carlisle. The station was manned with civil defense volunteers, fire engines, and equipment that was on loan from the Georgia Forestry Commission. Before 1971, each city was responsible for operating its own fire department and accomplished this requirement through the use of hundreds of volunteers and fundraisers.

The County Fire Department has significantly grown over the years. With volunteers being harder and harder to find, the County Fire Department has absorbed all the City Fire Departments in Bartow County with the exception of the City of Cartersville. Bartow County Fire now covers Adairsville, Emerson, Euharlee, Kingston, Taylorsville, White and all the unincorporated sections of Bartow County. Bartow County Fire Department also covers Lake Allatoona which is approximately 12,000 acres, has 270 miles of shoreline, and 8 marinas.

Currently, Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services operates 14 manned stations.
